      WHEEL ALIGNMENT

It can happen slowly, a little at a time through normal wear and tear. Or it can happen after an unexpected run-in with a pothole or curb. Either way, if left unchecked, an “off” wheel alignment can leave you driving in circles. Being able to drive in a straight line is the least you should expect of your vehicle’s steering. The expert auto repair techs at West View Shell can give you back complete control. We make sure your vehicle doesn’t have a mind of its own, using precision sensors on each tire to ensure an accurate alignment while driving. A proper wheel alignment is when all four tires are pointing in the exact same direction. An obvious symptom of an “off” wheel alignment is when a driver feels an automatic pulling to the right or to the left while attempting to drive straight. Drivers may also notice a shaky steering wheel or vibrating steering column. These could just be the start to a number of problems with your car’s performance, including suspension and a variety of parts damages. Tires will wear unevenly when the alignment is off even a little bit. Routine adjustments should be performed at least once a year, or every 10,000 miles, whichever comes first.

      SUSPENSION REPAIR

A car’s suspension system connects its wheels to its body or frame and is responsible for providing greater handling and passenger comfort. It does this through the use of several components including springs, struts, shocks, control arms, bushings, and a sway bar. The springs, struts, and shocks serve to absorb bumps and jolts in the road while the control arm and bushings allow the wheels to move up and down. At West View Shell, we recommend that your vehicle’s suspension system be checked at least once a year along with a wheel alignment. Symptoms of worn or damaged suspension components include erratic steering, uneven or excessive tire wear, poor handling, wandering, leaning, and pulling. If you experience any of these issues bring your car in as soon as possible. Bent or damaged suspension parts can cause premature damage to other parts of your vehicle. West View Shell’s service and repair center is located in Cattonsville, MD.
